Yoshinogari Settlement

     

Just added a new page to the Japanese Castle Explorer. I’ve gotta be honest, Yoshinogari has never really appealed to me. It is quite a ways removed from anything Sengoku period or later i.e.: my interests.

In any case, this site is listed as one of the Top 100 castles(?) by the Nihon Jō Kyōku Kai, the Japan Castle foundation.

    I don’t know if there is a short answer to that. Actually, you’d have to say it is. It has watchtowers, defensive walls, ditches, etc… Having said that it does sort of have the feel of a rideless theme park. I mean, how accurate can it all be? There are plenty of questions darting around in my mind.

    Not my cup of tea, but it has found a home on the JCE website.
