Yatsushiro castle – Video blog #1

I never really had the desire to jump in front of a camera but I’ve pretty much gone the whole hog here. It’s from my trip to Yatsushiro which is about an hour south of Kumamoto city. I had myself a good time. Please comment and don’t be reserved. Any & all feedback is welcome, even un-constructive criticism. Bring it on!

The full Yatsushiro castle profile page is finally up! Check it out.

Pretty great first video! Im really looking forward to seeing you next ones!

    Nice accent :)

Somehow it never quite struck me as such until now, but with this video, your castle adventures really start to remind me of my adventures exploring Welsh castles alongside a friend more expert in that time & place. Walking around stone ruins, trying to imagine what buildings once stood there, what walls, what floors, what decorations.

Somehow the video really adds a lot, really makes it feel more real, almost like actually visiting. If/when I ever get back to Japan, maybe I should try creating some video reports on various historical sites or something…

    Nice job; well done.

I agree with Toranosuke and Gaijinlife. It was a great video. I think the best part was you putting a voice and face behind the posts and comments. Now we have a personality! I’m looking forward to getting to Japan and meeting up over a Castle and some Sushi, Eh?

I look forward to the next installment!

    Toranosuke / Pool:

What accent?? I agree, the video certainly adds another, “more real” dimension to the whole thing. Despite the fact I was pretty much unprepared (and that I have a rough head), I’m pretty happy how it turned out. I think video may to be the way to go to most effectively convey my passion for the subject for precisely the reasons you both point out. And with a bit of luck, six months down the road things should get tighter & of at least some value. Pool, perhaps use of the word “personality” is a bit premature.

I’m really looking forward to seeing how things develop & hope you guys are too.

No don’t underestimate your self and video talent! I does give a lot of personality to the site!
Maybe like you said just plan the video, text and layout of the film when you get to the castle and then film it. It’s going to look Fantastic! I was so happy since I really enjoy talking to you all the time but I could never see you, except your nice little pic on twitter ( I guess it’s the same for me lol a little lantern and sakura pic lol) but now I know who is Dan!
    Can’t wait for the next!

Cool! Well done. You have a lot more guts than I do. I’m sure the next one will be even better. Video really adds a dimension that you can’t get from pictures alone.

Good to see you back again Eric.

I’m not sure if the very next one will be better but let’s hope it starts heading in that direction. Either way, it does add a 3d’ness to it without actually being 3d.

    Thanks
