Kurume Castle – Video blog #3

     

This was kind of impromptu. The sky was blue & I had access to the car (finally), so I thought I’d check out Kurume Castle. It’s about a 25-minute drive from my house. I actually wasn’t expecting to see cherry blossoms at all, so that was a nice surprise.

Is this video too long guys? Would love your comments on any & all aspects of the video.

    This was the first time I watched one of your videos, and I liked it. I thought it was a nice touch to put the historical picture of Kurume Castle in the corner so viewers could compare now and then.

    I would like to have seen some more shots of the cherry blossoms, but that’s the spring fever in me talking.

    A nice touch would have been to show the kanji for “kabuki”.

    You spent a long time in front of the sign at the gate (around 5:00). The camera went out of focus several times. Does your camera have manual focus?

    Yeah, it was a little long, but there was a lot to talk about.

    Yeah, when it come to “ruined” castles, I figure I should do what I can to help people imagine how it once looked. I did this for the first time in the Hitoyoshi video & will of course use it again in the future.

    Considering the fact that the cherry blossoms have never looked so good when I’d visited, you’re right, incorporating them more would’ve been better. As for Kabuki, as in Kabuki-gomon (冠木御門), it does flash by about 3:25 in. Yeah, I could’ve made that clearer and I did loiter a bit to long around that sign.

    The camera is actually a regular digital camera & not a handy-cam. Consequently, it’s functionality is somewhat limited.

    Hey Dan,

    Well, I watched the video. Very cool. I especially liked the superimposed photographs of the original castle. (or was I imagining these).

    I’m glad everyone else enjoys them too, that means you’ll probably do some more of them. I look forward to one on Oka Castle!

    I do hope people are getting something out of these vids but I’m not exactly sure how enjoyable people are finding them. Just between you & me though, I am starting to enjoy making them.

    So, more will come, like it or not. haha
