Japanese Manhole Cover

Posts about manhole covers seem to be all the rage of late, so I thought I’d jump on the bandwagon too. Admittedly, a quick google search highlights the fact that the cover below is pretty unremarkable, but this one suits me just fine!

Could you make out the picture?

  1. Neat. A friend of mine from when I was living in Japan was particularly fond of manhole covers and inspired me to keep any eye out for interesting ones. I don’t think I ever found anything *too* remarkable, though. Not in Japan, at least.

  2. Very interesting, the pics & the chance to “tour” the old subway tunnel.

I feel they really went to some extra effort for the vision impaired of Okinawa.

    And what’s Brigid playing at?

  4. Actually, maybe clicking on the picture will be easiest. Anyway, it’s the San-no-maru gate of Saiki castle. Saiki is a town in Ōita, western Kyūshū & one of my friends’ hometown. It’s a nice corner of Japan & I was lucky enough to have my own personal guide.
