Hitoyoshi castle – Video blog #2

This castle is quite an enjoyable one to stroll around, the grounds are in good condition & there remain plenty of original stonework as well as some rebuilt walls & turrets. This video was taken on the same day as my visit to Yatsushiro Castle, so please, once again forgive the roughness.

This video plus loads o’ photos & a heap of information can be found at the Hitoyoshi Castle profile page. I hope you’ll check it out.

Nice to see a river castle, and a watergate; easy to imagine how the castle might have been accessed by water, the boats tied up right outside that mizunote-mon, with a guardhouse of course guarding that entrance.

I quite like the banners too.

One of these days, I’ve got to finish tagging and labeling all my photos of my Wales castle adventures…

I hear what you’re saying Yugo, but due too certain responsibilities, I travel when I can & not when I want. It’s hard enough lining up good weather with a day off. But or course, thank you for the encouraging comments. It does seem to have turned out better than the first.

Toranosuke, the significance of the river access aspect of the castle escaped me for the most part. Thanks for pointing that out.

    Hey,

I didn’t catch this video at first, because of those pesky ‘Technical Difficulties.’ I really enjoyed this one! It is funny how shoddy the recent renovations look. But, I suppose if nothing else they give an impression of what used to be there.

I liked your joke about the guys stepping on your feet as you climbed the wall! Very nice.

    Matto!

You are a legend. The delivery was poor but I wanted that “step on their hands” comment left in. Now I’m glad I did!
